The Second Stage
Our Challenge
Since the beginning, the Globe has benefited enormously from the generosity and commitment of its volunteers and supporters. In order for us to grow our dynamic theatre and educational programmes we need your support. We are now embarking on a £20 million capital campaign to deliver the following initiatives.
The Globe Education and Rehearsal Centre
Expand the successful Globe Educational programme:
- Renovate studios at nearby 58 Park Street
- Build bespoke facilities for 100,000 students annually
- Create a Rehearsal Studio for actors and students
- Create groundbreaking Youth Theatres
Indoor Jacobean Theatre
An elaborate, authentic indoor space:
- Create faithfully reconstructed theatre of a likeness to the Blackfriars Theatre where Shakespeare performed
- Provide a facility for productions during winter months
The Globe Research Centre, Library and Archive
A 21st century Research Centre, Library and Archive:
- Ensure the Globe is the first point of reference worldwide for the study of Shakespeare
- Display archives and rare collections
- Bring public, performers and academics together
- Create a new hospitality venue with a riverside vista
Endowment
The Endowment will help us take important creative risks – to undertake more experimental work in the theatre and explore more innovative approaches to teaching Shakespeare – without compromising any other area of our work.
Get involved
By becoming involved with Shakespeare's Globe you will be supporting one of the most prestigious and important arts and education centres in the country. It is through your generous support that these projects can evolve and flourish, bringing an understanding of Shakespeare both to local schools in Southwark and others, across the country.
Whether you are an individual, a company or a trust wishing to help our projects, your support is invaluable to our continuing efforts to deliver exceptional plays and education programmes to the widest possible audience.
